Anisotropic spin Hall effect from first principles.
We report on first principles calculations of the anisotropy of the intrinsic spin Hall conductivity (SHC) in nonmagnetic hcp metals and in antiferromagnetic Cr. For most of the metals of this study we find large anisotropies. We derive the general relation between the SHC vector and the direction of spin polarization and discuss its consequences for hcp metals. Especially, it is predicted that...
متن کاملOrientation dependence of the anomalous Hall resistivity in single crystals of Yb14MnSb11
The Hall resistivity, electrical resistivity, and magnetization of single crystals of the tetragonal ferromagnet Yb14MnSb11 are reported as a function of the direction of the current I and magnetic field H with respect to the principal crystallographic axes. With I along the unique c direction and H in the a-b plane, the anomalous Hall resistivity in the limit of zero applied field is negative ...

متن کاملHall Resistivity in Ferromagnetic Manganese-Oxide Compounds
Temperature-dependence and magnetic field-dependence of the Hall effect and the magnetic property in manganese-oxide thin films are studied. The spontaneous magnetization and the Hall resistivity are obtained for a various of magnetic fields over all the temperature. It is shown that the Hall resistivity in small magnetic field is to exhibit maximum near the Curie point, and strong magnetic fie...
متن کاملQuantum Hall Liquid Crystals
In this report we summarize a recent progress in exploration of correlated two-dimensional electron states in partially filled high Landau levels. At a mean-field Hartree-Fock level they can be described as charge-density waves, either unidirectional (stripes) or with the symmetry of the triangular lattice (bubbles). Thermal and quantum fluctuations have a profound effect on the stripe density ...
